Student Histories
Read some case studies of SNL students, their learning history and their SNL coursework.

Marion is in her mid-forties. She's worked in human resources for seventeen years. She completed some community college courses years ago. Recently, she finished a certification program and some other professional development courses. She is interested in returning to school and earning a BA with a focus area related to human resources so she is eligible for promotion at work.

During the next three years, Marion earned her DePaul degree through SNL. Generally, she took two classes a quarter for between four and six credit hours each at the Loop and O'Hare campuses. She took nine SNL courses that satisfied all the requirements in the Lifelong Learning Area. In each of the Arts & Idea, Human Community and Scientific World categories, she took three courses (that each satisfied two requirements) and also transferred in three of her community college courses. She satisfied the Advanced electives and Integrative Learning category with just two courses. She transferred her professional development work by demonstrating that it was college level and that it fit into her degree program. In addition, she completed three HR-related courses in DePaul's College of Commerce.

Her progress through the degree cost approximately $25,284.

Jack is thirty-six. He works as an administrator for a suburban village. He has completed eleven courses at a local community college. He wants to earn his degree to change careers to work in real estate. During the next two years, Jack earned his DePaul degree through SNL - taking courses at Naperville, O'Hare and South campuses. He took nine courses in the Lifelong Learning Area. He successfully transferred his eleven courses into the Liberal Learning Area. This left him four SNL courses to complete to satisfy the other requirements in that Area. Lastly, he took two courses at a local community college and another two SNL courses to complete his Focus Area.

His progress through the degree cost approximately $16,321 - not including the additional courses he took at the community college.

Florence is retired. She never went to college. She completed the SNL program over four years. She took nine courses that satisfied all the requirements in the Lifelong Learning Area. She completed seven courses in the Liberal Learning Area and three courses in the Focus Area. Her progress through the degree cost approximately $31,021.
