SNL Program Requirements
The School for New Learning (SNL) offers on-line and on-campus bachelor's degrees for adults who want to utilize their prior learning to accelerate their progress toward a degree. Students design a focus of study which interests them, with the help of an SNL Faculty Mentor and Professional Advisor. They finish at their own pace while balancing work, school and family. Two to three years as a part-time student is the average completion time.
SNL is a competence-based program where students concentrate on outcomes in the form of 50 competence statements, some required and some elective, using a combination of transfer coursework, SNL coursework and life experience explained in writing as if it were a final paper for a class.
While going through the program, each student at SNL has a 'grid' which is a graphical representation of individual progress. See a Sample Program Grid (Adobe Reader Required).

Adult Bridge Program
The Adult Bridge Dual Admissions Program is a partnership program with two of the Chicago City Colleges designed for adults age 24 and older who, because of the many demands on their time and financial resources, find it difficult to pursue a more traditional path toward a bachelor's degree. By facilitating transition rather than transfer, the Adult Bridge program assists students in developing their learning styles and in finding ways of coping with their fears, concerns and confusions in preparing for their long-term learning goals.
