SNL Online courses are open to all SNL students. SNL Online courses are offered in the Blackboard course management system. Each course has a threaded discussion conference in which students are required to participate. You can login to the discussion conference any day of the week and at any time of the day. All courses require that you regularly participate in the discussion conference and complete your assignments according to the course schedule.
The fastest and the most convenient way to register for courses is though Campus Connect at https://campusconnect.depaul.edu. You can also download the Registration form and fax it to 312-362-8809 or email it to snlregistration@depaul.edu
Please note that you can register for all courses on Campus Connect except for Advanced Project, Guided Independent Study (GIS), Summit Seminar, and Externship when taken as a project with your Faculty Mentor. All of these courses require completion of a Registration Form submitted via fax or email.
Your instructor will contact you via email during the first week of class. Your instructor and the staff at SNL will use the “Preferred” email address listed on Campus Connect to contact you. You are required to make sure you always have the most up to date email address on Campus Connect. If you update your email address on Campus Connect during the middle of a course, it is a good idea to notify your instructor(s).
You can contact your instructors via phone or email. Find your instructor's contact information .
Proficiency Exams are available for L4 Academic College, L5 Critical Thinking, L6 Quantitative Reasoning, and S5 Information Technology competencies. Students may only register once for each exam. If you need to cancel or register for an alternative date, you must do so in writing at least 72 hours prior to the exam without being responsible for the fee. Students must pass an exam in the first attempt in order to receive credit. Failing a proficiency exam requires completion of an SNL course to satisfy the competence. Failure to submit the exam on time also means you have to take the course. Exception: The S5 exam can be re-taken if failed but also requires successful completion of work to develop competence prior to re-taking the exam.
Results for L4 College Writing and L5 Critical Thinking are emailed to the student within 4-6 weeks after the exam submission deadline. L6 Quantitative Reasoning results are emailed to the student within 1-2 weeks after the exam completion. The S5 Information Technology results are emailed to the student within 2 weeks of the exam date.
You can submit an Independent Learning Pursuit (ILP) only after you have completed the Foundations of Adult Learning Course. For more information on ILP, please refer to your Foundations Resource Book. Please consult with your faculty mentor before you submit an ILP. Once your ILP has been approved, it will appear on Campus Connect and you will be charged a fee for $150. Download the ILP Assessment Form and ILP FAQ Form can be downloaded.
Pre-approved courses transfer during Learning Assessment Seminar. Please refer to your Foundations Resource Book for more information.
Non-pre-approved courses from other colleges are eligible to transfer during and after you complete LL 250 Foundations of Adult Learning. Once you complete Transfer Coursework Assessment Form and Log Sheet, forward it to your Faculty Mentor for review. If approved, Form and Log Sheet will be sent to Teaching, Learning and Assessment Committee (TLC) for review. If accepted, transfer courses take up to 6 weeks to appear on a Campus Connect course history. Please contact your Faculty Mentor with additional questions.
Your Foundations instructor becomes your Faculty Mentor. You can also contact any academic advisor at snladvising@depaul.edu or 312-362-5445.
